Reefing Systems 
Im new to sailing, bought a cal 20 about two months ago and plan on spending some time refitting her this winter. Ive been reading Steve Seal's article (A Classy 20 Footer) and alot of the modifications made in the article make sense to me (and my location). I just wish there was a little more detailed information on some of the rigging setups.

Im particularly interested in a reefing system, my boat has none, and Id like to set one up over the winter. Does anyone have systems that work particularly well for them? The internal block system mentioned in the article sounds appealing, im just not sure how to lead the lines in and out of the boom.

Well, I guess I'll jump on this.  My boom has both the roller reefing goosneck and pulleys for jiffy reefing, my mainsail is set up for jiffy as well.  I have been rolling it for ease but just tried a jiffy reefing a few weekends ago.  I like jiffy, much better.  I have more control over the sail shape as well as retain the use of the boom vang.  There's my vote.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for responding!  My boom doesnt have a roller reefing gooseneck so Im thinking of some sort of jiffy reefing like setup (although in the article I linked Steve Seals had the blocks inside the boom I believe).  Would you mind posting pics of your setup?
