speed racer!

I don't know what the top speeds are out there in race-land, but this cruiser hit 7.1 knots yesterday, on a broad reach on the Chesapeake, in what was probably about a 20 knot gust.

We spent a lot of time at and over 6 knots, mostly on a beam reach.

That is great! I can remember back about 20 years ago sailing in San Pedro with the kite up on the Dairs Cal 20 and we were off of Point Fermin and the boat was going so fast that the bow was divining into the wave in front of us and we were wildly surfing along...

We did not have a know meter, but I am sure that we were going faster than hull speed probably around 10 knots!....what a great ride I will never forget.
