Rigging questions and a few other things

So, I bought #1745 this spring, did some work to it and had a great time sailing it with the family this summer.  A few things I noticed though.  I had to replace the mast and the one Steve sent me is 26'6".  The old one was 26'3".  Which one is correct?  The reason I am asking is because I took all my measurements off mast step to drill the new holes and I ran into trouble on the jumper tension (wicked tight) and the stay placement.  I discovered that I had way too much aft rake based on the amount of weather helm plus you could visually see the rake about a mast width aft.  In this position the turnbuckles on the fore and back stays are barely grabbing threads.  My other questions, as this is a family daysailor and not a fleet racer are moving the outboard to the transom (tired of wet feet) and adding a traveller.  Any thoughts?

btw, there on 3 Cal 20's on this little lake in Colorado here, that's pretty cool.
