loose foot on main problem

The aft 6-8" of the foot of my main has been pulling out of the groove on the boom. The boltrope there appears normal; can't figure out how it's happening - and it can't be shoved back in, has to be taken off and re-fitted.

Anyone know the best way to help secure it in there?  I'm thinking about taking a couple of lengths of #6 to 8 insulated wire, and taping them alongside the aft end of the boltrope with sail repair tape, to make a crossection that won't slip through.

Anybody...? Bueller...?

Anybody...?

Re: loose foot on main problem

HI,

There might be several creative ways to fix it, but my recommendation is to take it to the local sail loft and have a slightly bigger bolt rope installed.

The last thing you want is your repair to come loose at the worst moment...

Good Luck!
